DREAMING IN COLOR:
Crafting a Charitable Legacy with a Pink Lancer Craft Elite Runabout Boat
It begins with a dream, fueled by the desire to forge something extraordinary and one-of-a-kind. In any given group of children, aspirations diverge: some yearn to explore the cosmos as astronauts, others aim to construct formidable snow forts and a few simply seek to create swifter marvels. Today, at the age of 71, Roger Pecina is bringing to life his cherished childhood ambition of crafting boats.
President and co-founder of Lancer Craft
Pecina, the president and co-founder of Lancer Craft, is a passionate devotee of boating with a deep admiration for the wooden boats of the 1950s and 1960s. These vessels, intricately influenced by automotive aesthetics of the era, have captivated his imagination throughout his boating journey. While engaged in the restoration and sale of vintage wooden boats, Pecina absorbed valuable insights from his customers, gaining a profound understanding of their desires. Inspired by their feedback, he conceived the notion of fashioning a fiberglass boat that impeccably emulates the timeless charm of wood.
Lancer Craft Elite Runabout boat
The Lancer Craft Elite Runabout boat, the smallest vessel in the company’s lineup, boasts a length of 20 feet, with a beam (the widest part of the vessel) that stretches 6 feet, 4 inches and a draft (the distance between the waterline and the boat’s deepest point) that measures 20 inches.
Crafted from fiberglass, the Elite Runabout showcases an exquisite wood-grain finish, exuding a touch of classic elegance. This watercraft accommodates up to six adults comfortably. Equipped with a 40-gallon fuel capacity, its power stems from a Chevrolet upturned 5.3-liter engine, harnessed through a direct 1.5-1 drive. The Elite Runabout attains a remarkable water speed of 45 mph, supported by hydraulic steering that ensures effortless maneuverability for anyone of any boating skillset. A 2023 Sea Fury boat trailer (Lot #3000.1) is included with the sale of the Elite Runabout boat.
“It’s been a lifelong dream to get to this point and to have this boat be on a national stage where people can see the beauty in it and ask questions, so the boat can stir up excitement,” Pecina said. “It’s a big deal. I’m thankful and humbled.”
